以前总觉得自己的英语说的不地道，其中一个原因是语速问题。认为能加快语速就能说纯正的北美英语。现在我发现，其实不然。
北美英语有一些自己独特的发音规则和方法，不管说快、说慢都要遵循这些规则。比如consonants和vowels的连接，consonants的停顿和连接，word stress等等。不仅如此，对于我们这些已经“说”了很多年英语的外国人来说，我们已经养成了很多不正确的语言习惯，连词、重音的发音都有问题。如果一味的增加语速，可能适得其反，反而让自己的英语更难被理解。所以，从慢到快，逐步纠正自己的发音，才是有效的提高途径。
要纠正就要学习和模仿，可是其实生活里本地人说话的语速都很快，要学习、要模仿并不容易。英语新闻的播报速度是相对慢一些的，而且字正腔圆，所以我每天都学习。
除此之外，我还发现还有一个很好的途径就是看少儿节目，他们的速度更慢，发音更为清晰，非常容易模仿。记得以前一位移民到这里多年的朋友告诉我，向你的孩子学英语，这对你最有帮助。我想道理也就在这里吧。

A teen ager from California has died after falling from a viewing platform at the Capliano suspension bridge in BC. The teen ager was traveling with the group of students who were visiting the popular tour site in North Vancouver. Tim weeks covering this story for us, joins us life from Vancouver this Morning. Tim, bring something to speak, what do we know about the tragic event.
Police say they took a call just after 7 o’clock last night that the person had fallen from the Capliano suspension bridge, near that area. And they rushed down. They said they didn’t take long to the spot where the person that fallen, the problem was exactly where he had fallen. It’s quite a steep area. They said it was extremely difficult to get to. They needed and they called a high angle rescue team, these people equipped with ropes and other equipment. It took quite a while, they say to trying to bring the boy back up to the surface, and unfortunately, he did not survive the fall. Ambulance was round standby, but it was too late. This is as you mentioned is fairy popular tour, there’s tens of thousands of people visit every year. Part of the excitement of this is walking along the suspension bridge, looking down at the steam of the cathem. And at this particular blue viewing platform, as you mentioned the police say that it didn’t seem to be attacked a number of signs warning about the dangerous of the area. But at this particular viewing platform, they say there is a safety barricade that’s about 4, 4 and half feet high surrounding the platform. They say there is no indication the safety barricade give away at all.
Tim, this is a tragedy story, not only for the family of the victim, but also for the students for his friends who was standing by and watching it all happen. Now you mentioned these teen agers from states. What happens next?
Yes, this is a group of students visiting BC from California. Number of them did see what happened, so they’re being questioned by police, trying to determining how this accident could’ve happened. But at the same time, a number of them clear achromatized, so grieve consolers being brought in. At the same time, the North Vancouver RCMP and BC corner services are also being conduct full investigation on it. Beyond that there weren’t really seem too much information about, just what did take place. We should be hearing more soon.

In Vancouver cellphone market there’s a new kit on the block, the company called wind mobile is offering cheaper rates with the catch. Maggie Zelaya has a repot.
Wind mobile says it’s offering Vancouver rates that they’ve never seen before.
“No contract ever, ever.”
As Canada’s newest player on the cellphone scene, Wind says it will under cut the competition. With Wind, $45 gets you unlimited call. For the same price you only get up to 350 minutes with TELUS, Rogers and Bell. And with Wind there are no contracts or monthly fees like the 911 fee. But there’s a catch. These low rates only apply to the Vancouver area, go out a little further, and till West Vancouver or Surrey, and you’re start paying extra. Wind came to Canada from Europe last December. Starting in Toronto and Calgary, and then Ottawa and Edmonton. Reviews so far have been mixed.
“The fact is I think a lot of users a little afraid of the fact that they likely got drop off ca call. You know they might not be able to get. I talked to them today, they say: well, depends where you are. You make it coverage; you know, in one part of your house, not the other. I say: well, that’s not gonna be a cut.”
Wind says they’re looking at the coverage issues.
“I think the problems have been largely addressed. If they not been addressed, then we continue to address them.”
Analyst says that if Wind did successful. In couple of years it could force competitors to bring rates down.

New indications today that Real estate market is cooling off, sales are declining and prices are flattening. Bell Puri has the details.
Spring at this year’s washed away winter’s record of home sales.
“Today, home sales are down more than 30% from that very high level and that had an impact on the market place.”
Interests rates are up; it’s harder to get credit.
“Buyers are conscious. They’re going and looking at all the houses, but they’re not prepare to pay the price that they are asking.”
As the result, Canadian real estate association has revised its 2010 housing prediction. The national forecast of just over a half million sales’ been reduced by 40,000. BC accounts for 22,000 of those sales that won’t happen. Record march and April house prices have dropped, not substantially but they have come down.
“Our number tell us very clearly right now that prices have basically leveled at this point.”
Changes in the market place are beginning.
“We do know that our inventory levels are rising, which’s gonna create more choice for buyers. And it’ll give buyers more time to find a home.”
The province, metro Vancouver and particular experts say it’s heading toward a buyer’s market.
“Sellers will only have one choice, if they want sale a house have to come down to where the buyers are prepared to pay. I think, by the end of August, you gotta see quite a bit of change.”
If the trend continues, home owners can expect much more selection and much less chance of getting into a multiple offer situation. Paying more than anticipated or expected could become a scene of the past.

It is one of the most popular social net working sites out there, but Canadians have become frustrated with the lack of privacy on face book and today thousands threaten to unfriendly site all together. But as Theresa Lalonde reports that champion seems to have fallen fact.
“They gotta be a lot pickier on tools they choose, features they enable on those tools. They’re also going to be pickier about who they say yes to, when they get friend requests. People stop collect friends and realize that face book will free for user is making money by mining personal information and selling it to advertisers. Privacy settings became an issue. Then came a Campion to abstain. 30,000 people say they deactivated their account today.
“It just bollix.” and Adarsh Pallian run the digital media marketing company.
“It’s the connecting point for my life, you know my friends, my photos, music, video, everything. Disconnecting from face book almost like disconnecting my entire social.”
Pallian keeps in touch with friends and family at least on face book. His mother follow him through the site. In fact the biggest grows on face book is women over the age of 55. There are 400M active users today. Pallian believes the quitters are small minority of people who don’t want to interactive much online to begin with.
“My cell phone is posted online. People can text me or call me anytime they want. And I encourage that, I think we living in a very open public world.”
Even if you quit face book, face book isn’t quitting you. Whatever information you put in their already, they get to keep.

牛气的加拿大移民局电话（续）
鉴于上周五被挂断电话前得到的信息，周四、周五流量最大。今天，星期二我决定再试试。
这次我有经验了，拨通电话，选择1，然后听三遍目录播报，我就被转到人工服务。电话提示说我不能用coarse language，否则服务人员有权挂断我的电话。（估计这里的工作人员的日子也不怎么好过，经常会被愤怒的移民申请者当作出气桶）电话里说现在仍然是“high volumn”，本以为还要被挂电话，不过还好，它告诉我估计的等候时间是10分钟。于是我就开始听音乐了，其间不停得听电话里说“please notice, our agents can not speed up your application process.”
经过漫长的等待（十分钟多了一点），我同工作人员对了话。他告诉我，只要在半年内（如果入境时没有被特别规定的话），可以任意多次去美国而后返加。
至少，这个电话还是真的有用的。

The trial is now a little away for the women accused the death of the four year old Delta girl. Alexa Middelaer was killed two years old, stricken down at a quiet farming road. Today the Crown review that the under cover operation were used to get Caro Berner to admit she had been drinking on the day of crash. Eric Rankin has that story.
Well, tony this tragedy touch many in low mainland and it’s actually respond BC panned new tough driving laws. Today got sense of just how seriously authorities are taking this case. This was the public fist look the accuse. 50 years old Carol Berner, last seen by the family and the victims two years ago. After her car flew off a quiet farm road in Ladner. Striking and killing four years old Alexa Middelaer and seriously injuring her aunt as the pair of horse by the side of the road. Bener had nothing to say to the reporter as the trail get under her way. Pleading not guilty under two counts of drunk driving and two counts of dangerous driving, causing the death of Bottely Heart. Today the closest thing to a public apology, not from Berner, but from an unnamed friend.
“Our hearts go out to the family. No one have to go through a tragedy like this, and that’s how we all feel.”
Well, berner was given a breathalyzer test, Delta police said head setter was not enough to evidence to a charge until they employ investigate strategies. Today the Crown review investigator’s conductor a stain undercover officers posing as a couple defend Berner. Berner eventually confessed she had consumed three glasses of wine before the tragedy. The Crown admits the video take confession was the key to this case going forward.
“It was investigative decision that the police took and contested of this case. It is unusual to see it in this type of case, but it’s one of the elements of the case going forward.”
Alexa’s parents believe the move is innovate.
“I’m really interested to see how plays out.”
Alexi’s farther just hope something positive comes out of his daughter’s death.
“If you focus on that goal, I think it’s become a little easier the way through the nonsense we being through right now.”
