There’s no end of the social connections teenagers can make online, some get requests from strangers.

“Crumby people.”

“Yell, like sometimes run the digital add me, I’m like who the hell are you kind of thing.”

“I try to block them and delete them.”

“When a stranger says hi or something, I exit and block the person.”

So these kids are getting the message they know to turndown strangers online. Now a message’s being send to predators in an ad champion. The children of the streets society is launching the ad. The BC government is paying with support from the Vancouver Police.

“If you go online and connected with the young person underage, there’re police officers online as well.”

Now keep in mind today’s information is nothing new in terms of what police are doing. They’re still doing the same amount of investigation. What they want get out though is that predators are being watched.

Vancouver police have two full time officers possess the teenagers online trolling the net potential predators. Another six officers are brought in to investigate the active file. So far the success rate is low. This unit investigated 20 cases, 7 people were charged, but 4 were thrown out due to lack of evidence. “These are not easy investigations, they’re very complex and take a lot of time.”

SGT CAVEZZA says online predators investigations are a top priority for the department. He hopes the ads persuade the potential predators to stay out of teen chat rooms and off facebook sites.

Lisa Slakoy rides her bicycle all over the town all year around, riding during the Olympics. You bet. “People are going to realize that they have to move at the slowest pace at the Olympics period and the bicycle is a beautiful way to see the city and get around. Now that is not just a hope. Slaboy is working to make that happen. “Lots of tension, lots of defensive cycling going slow through the intersection, if it all possible.” She gives the work shop all the time. And works on the first time cyclist need to know all about the riding at the city. These are BC Hydro employees in Burnaby. Some already cyclist with their own Olympic Plan. I’m really the good strategy is to park about a kilometer away with your bikes in your car, take out the bikes and then ride on to the site. And that might be an even all popular option. Now that Vancouver is planning to set up seven bike valet spot close to the venue with room for 1200 bikes. It work a lot like a cold check in. You ride up your bike and handle a bike you get a check, little stub, you return with it then get back your bike ride your home. Back the workshop sits Maria Furberger, who lives downtown as a bike for rarely rides it. I think it’s an interesting notion, like I’m even considering bring my mom a bike to one of the events. Now that I know that there’s valet parking. Just knows that you got some where, it’s actually safe and secure, suppose just lock up to a land post. It’s a lot more comfort then bring in your bikes somewhere.” Will none cyclist really take it up at Feb? “Image, if we can get people to do that at Feb. How much they enjoy cycling in the summer months. It is not all good news for the cyclist during the Olympic. If you’re one of those who take their bikes on skytrain. Well, you’re out of luck. Translink says, during the games, it’ll just be too crowded.
