Buyers lined up before dawn and they’re been lining up all day. The apple ipad came to Canada today in a moment it looks what makes it so special. But first, Kirk William at apple store downtown. Kirk.

Tony, this is what ipad at, just look CBC’s website here. If you cann’t this way, maybe I can adjust it for you, then it should come back, maybe. No? Yes. Here we go. This is what people’s after, now it’s available in Canada, was available in United States last month, but now Canada and eight other countries have access to this. In Germany the lineups were orderly; in Tachsabi, Japan, they waited all night, begin by cheering sales people. And in Vancouver here too, they waited, passing the time waiting for an ipad by listening to ipods. Ipads are the next big thing, a bigger screen too, but no keyboard, no mouse , no phone or camera. You cann’t brows the web, send email, watch vedieo, listen to music and read ebook. What ipods did for music, people hopes ipad will do for books.

“I really looking forward to going home and reading some books. And some most people are getting to find a new way to read a book, I guess.”

And ipads a lot easier to read from, because of their size.

“It can do lots of thins I can see here while I cann’t see this(cell phone).”

One last of the round of bloss, some photos and staff got ready for the sale. Doors are slow open and store quickly filled the shoppers, and it wasn’t too long before some of them emergied with the price.

“I have it, I’m so excited.”

These are not the hard call, must be the first to own ipad folkers, those already went to the states when ipad was launch their in April, eager to shop out after 100 dollars with the top models.

“Kirk, how many did apple sale today?”

Well, they’re keeping that closely guarded secret. We made it several attempt try to talk to apple to see how many they sold. You know, this store that they sold out one with the a fewer Gega bytes, some of the cheaper models, the $900 ones are still there available. But we know in united states they sold 300,000 on the first day and so far they sold over 1 million. Tony.

Call Centre agents - Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., your local time, except for statutory holidays.
You must choose one of the first five recorded options before you can speak to an agent.
可是,在电话铃响了几声后,电话里说,“Due to the high volumn of the call, we can't connect you to the agent now. Please note we're very busy on Thursday and Friday. please try it later." 然后他们就无情得挂断了我的电话。

真是牛气!

It’s the season tons of homes for sale. Sometimes real estate agents take clients through a home, others times the doors are thrown open wide and hope buyer will walk in and make an offer. But in Langley, thieves have been walking out with stolen goods.

“They coming in and taking jewelry, laptops, smaller things like iPods and we obviously have concerns about identities after.”

Out of seven incidents in May alone, five of them over $5000, almost $50,000 was in total. It’s one reason some agents refuse to do open house at all. You just don’t know who you are dealing with.

“I don’t know anything about them, when they come to the front door. Like don’t have them screen forsa, for me I don’t’ deal them.”

Whatever you show your home, police recommended you lock up your valuables and medications. If your home has multiple floors and entrances, ask your realtor to bring in helpers to watch your property. Hide your personal documents, bills, credit cards and bank statements.

Well, the story that dated us 30 years ago today, the three of us were bummed a quarter from mom and dad and try to play Pac-Man, that’s right. It was the first Video game that appeal to girls as well as boys, which help make so popular. As Theresa Lalonde reports tonight. Today’s online birthday celebration’s prove it is as addictive as ever.

One quarter, hours of fun. Chasing ghosts, munching dots, the game was so big, it had a song and its own cereal. It was the first arcade game to wildly appeal to teen boys and girls.

“Pac-Man came out when I was about 13. And we were just all hit down to arcade and have these massive games of Pac-Man. There was actually a lineup.”

Today, Brenda Bailey make video games, she knows what works.

“Easy to play, easy to pick up, really difficult to master. And to have that sense of replay ablility. These are very, very important design concept so the video games today, Pac-Man nailed it 30 years ago.”

“It was a fun silly little game, nobody got blown up.”

John Robertson repairs and resales arcade games. He’s been called to work on Pac-Man on 1980 right after it came out. The problem, it was too popular.

“The cashbox on it was a little small, for the amount of coins that went into them.”

So now when I was a kid, my big brother was a big gamer and he raped the score on this thing and that was so high that went back to zero. I spent years trying to do the same thing. Twitter’s field was full of arsdutral like that today. Pac-Man was the top conversation on twitter. Many people were struggle by today’s Google graphic, a playable version of Pac-Man. The twitters talked about how distracting it was, no work getting done in the office. Sentimentality still sells this old game.

“Pac-Man is still very popular for home.”

Of course you can get the computer version, but really this is way more physical, more fun, even when you loose.

Two Canadian fighter jets grumble to escort passenger plane to a landing today at the Vancouver International Airport. A big travel distraction is the subject of our Go Public story tonight. A Canadian couple found themselves stranded in Europe and not because of volcanic ash. They bought their tickets online, but the travel company never made the booking. Kathy Tomlinson has this cautionary tale for travelers.

Online, the fares look great. So Roger Cottrill and Betty Calam booked flights to Portaugal through Flight Network. The email confirmation came right way.

“As far as we’ve concerned, we’re good to go.”

All good, until they got to London for their connecting flight. Portugal’s tab air said their booking didn’t exist.

“We were told that we were not on their screen.”

Calam ‘s son was waiting for them in Lisbon. Air Canada tab their partner got them new tickets and they race to make the flight.

“And I don’t think, I’ve ever run harder and fast in my entire life.”

Getting home was worse, again they weren’t booked, they had no choice but to buy first class tickets for $2300.

“It was outrageous.”

“And probably, If we had phone business class rather than looking for a deal, it would been cheaper.”

Turns out Flight Network sold them cheap seat that weren’t actually for sell. Airline record show the day after it booked them, Flight Network was told the discount fare has been cancelled.

“We were not informed.”

The ruler in Ontario where the Flight Network is say that shouldn’t happen.

“So anything that verse or changed of that nature should be advised to the consumer.”

Flight Network refused our request to an interview, but 4 month after this mix up, now it’s showing a refund. The consumers association of Canada got 500 complains about online travel sites last year. Their advice, double check reservations and prices, consider directly booking with the airline and or use a credited travel agent. Thant’s what they suggested. Peter.

(Audio): http://www.box.net/shared/canzy83mga

Twitter seems an unlikely location for English language instruction, but turns out you can learn about grammar on Twitter and have you spelling corrected. Here is Theresa Lalonde.

If you think you don’t have to mind your “P”s and “Q”s when you’re on Twitter, you’re wrong. Grammar hardliners are on line too.

“You see a lot of crazy stuff.”

Alexandra Samuel loves words, as the director of the society media for Emily Car University. Samuel likes writing and reading online. But nothing gets her going like an extra comma.

“Why does it need to be comma there? And I mean, don’t think of me started on a lack of period. But this was that, I saw that, I just thought and I also just thought it’s just kind of funny.”

The message was still there, the message is still. It’s still asking us not to use paper towel unless it’s absolutely necessary.

“I have to admit, I really was not able to sort out the message, cuz I was so distracted by the bad grammar.”

Samuel took a picture of the sign she saw them at the bathroom of a local hotel and posted it to Twitter.

“I’m not gonna trust advice about saving the planet from the people who can’t even save the English language.”

Samuel also takes pictures of menus with bad grammar.

“People not seems realized food doesn’t taste good, if it hasn’t been punctuated properly.”

She highlights mistakes, but doesn’t score individuals. They’re a lot of online police doing that already. Grammar Cops who so reason to be on Twitter is to police others. And there’s Caps Cop where search engine find Twitters in all capital letters and sends them the message asking “Why are you shouting?”

If you join Twitter, you should know that everything you type is out there for anyone to see, so you’re up for public scrutiny.

(Audio): http://www.box.net/shared/v017fnlpn6

When the provincial government wants to release something without attracting too much attention, it often does it on a Friday afternoon. And today it released a list of items that will have a higher tax rate under the HST. Heather Robinson is at the legislature right now, Victoria. Heather.

Well, that’s right Gloria, I mean, many of us here are at the legislature from the press gallery to the opposition have been trying to get our hands on that list. Since last summer, when we heard the HST was coming to British Columbia, we want to know what items that are currently exempt from provincial sales tax will be hit the full 12% HST, when it comes to effect. Finally today we have that list. Now some things that we can expect paying more for included your basic cable, phone, home renovations, landscaping, real estate fee, now many of these we’ve been talking about before, many of these are in the public light. But here are few that are new to some of us, if you buy a smoke detector, if you buy a fist aid kit, for the first time, those items will now be tax both the provincial and the federal tax. You know, anything from buying a book, to going to the movies, to hopping into a cab, it’s going to jump from that 5% GST, up to a full 12 percent HST.

Heather, why did the government release this list?

Well, there’s been off a lot of pressure coming from the public, from the media, and from the all of those who oppose the HST to give finally a detailed, comprehensive list. Ontario has already done it. Bill Radisson, he is initiative co-election that release, that’s working on the petition. They release what they called a hit list, it’s a little while ago, and things they claim are going to be hit the HST. Well, the Finance Minister Colin Hansen said it was a full of mistakes, trying to correct that and here we go, six weeks before HST, comes into effect, we finally have that comprehensive list. We now know exactly where is going to hit us the most.

CBC NEWS-BC Sales Tax Refund

(Audio): http://www.box.net/shared/v2nq1jf41y

So as you hear Home Depot is promising refunds to those you can approve they were over charged. But what’s the provincial government doing all about extra tax money in its coffer, Eric Rankin has that story.

Well, you might be wondering is Victoria going to penalize Home Depot for this big mistake or maybe did put it into provincial conferences to make sure millions are ended up with a quickly returned. The answer seems to be No. on both counts. It’ll be up to you to get your own refund.

Home Depot customers are doing yourself types, most don’t want their refunds to be DIY.

“Yes, that’s sucks.”

“That’s just awful. I think they made enough money especially off me.”

People right to the top to the man who ended up with the tax windfall.

“Certainly we do receive complains they are all followed up on and we have our investigators, auditors that, that will looking into the issues that will brought to our attention.”

Another word, you have to complain, but what about issuing refund?

“Well I can’t comment on any particular investigation or complain.”

We were able to get this from the financial minister. Customers are entitle to a 7% PST refund, if you have your receipt as Cathy mentioned. You can go directly to Home Depot to get your money back, but the minister says it might be easier to go to its webpage and collect from government. The only problem you can’t get refund there for a claim of less than $10, the good news you can get your money back within four years from the date tax is improperly collected. So, good enough for overcharged Home Depot customers?

“Under $10, but how many times you come here, it really accumulates.”

“You don’t feel can try it about anything, so I take it as a loss.”

“As customers are getting holes again.”

We asked Home Depot just how much money they though they have over collected from BC tax payers. They said determining that wasn’t the priority right now. Meanwhile the provincial government says it would not penalize Home Depot for the tax mistake, adding they’ll been contact and have them revise their taxation process.

Well this gives new meaning to the phrase cash and carry, pregnant women will soon have to pay hospitals in British Columbia to review the gender of their unborn child. So, could the practice catch on in the rest of the Canada, Chris Brown reports.

Cassandra and Chris Frederickson are waiting forty weeks for the big review. They want to get to know their baby now on a 3D ultrasound.

“It’s the No. 1 question you always get from everybody. You know, do you know what the sex it, do you know if it’s a boy or girl.”

“We decided to just go with everything neutral but there’s part of us that wants to buy pink or blue so.”

The ultrasound technician can usually tell the gender of the detail 20 weeks’ scan. But it not always included in the official reporter to the doctor. Now the BC government wants to make parents pay $50 to put it in.

“It’s not automatically necessary procedure and what the medical services plan pays for and our health care plan pays for are those things of automatically necessary. So it is an option and people wish to pay for that and then they can have that additional option.”

“What they’re doing is on a women’s personal health information, they’re saying we have the information, we wouldn’t share to you unless you gives us 50 bucks. It’s a shake now.”

We check with Canada’s abstatute society in several provincial medical associations and no one knew of any other place they charge the parents for gender determination. Outside the maternity store, pregnant Mom though it a cash grab.

“If I really want to know, I would pay the money and I think most of people would.”

Indeed $50 is still a bargain compare to the several hundreds dollars some parents pay it private ultrasound clinics to have that early introduction to their baby. The Fredericksons now know it’s a girl and already decided on her name. And that is one secret they’re going to keep to themselves.

Move for Health Day-Kayaking

5月10日是Move for Health Day, 我去Kayaking了, 在海里划独木舟。 听了以后我有那么一点点担心,“Is like everyone will fall off in the water first time?" "No, 1 person per year, probably."

The education minister says she knows that Surrey school district has a problem with a lack of classroom space. The question is what Margaret Macdiarmid will do about it. Belle Puri reports.

See took a classroom visit for education minister to learn a lesson other than Surrey of known for sometimes.

“The sense this is a very wrapped growing district. We haven’t been keeping up.”

With more children than any other BC communities, Surrey’s the fast growing school district in the province. Already one in ten students doesn’t have a spot in a regular classroom. Surrey has over 7000 students in portables, enough to fill 14 elementary schools.

Teachers want more classrooms and more money to deal with the district’s 14M dollars budget shortfall.

“The reality is the dollars that are coming in the classroom is not enough to provide the same level of the service that we provided in a year and past.”

The minister only announced today was about size make upgrading project, but one of the new space she says is coming. Not new buildings, but new advance portables that will feel more like buildings.

“In some cases it will be a module classrooms, but I haven’t been in any yet. But I’m told we’ve been building those kind of structural actually for Alberta for sometime and they very much feel like an NX.”

“I feel quite confident that she is aware of our situation here.”

That’s the big change from a few weeks ago. You were upset, outrage, change is that all it takes, the minister comes to the town?

“No. You have to show me the results.”

The next time the minister visit, the students hope they will really have something to think about.

CBC NEWS-Hawks VS Canucks Preview

(Audio): http://www.box.net/shared/pk0ooe3ul7

Vancouver has lost last two games to travail series 2 to 1. The CBC’s Shane Foxman is live Vancouver with the preview of tonight’s game. OK, Shane, the Canucks had a great record during the regular season, why were they caught off guard the other night at their home ice?

You know what I don’t know if it’s caught off guard or you know you hear sometimes players try to do too much and you try to get out of your comforts zone and that might be the issue. They had great first period in game three, Antiny’s the gold tender. Of course for Chicago still on his head. He was absolutely fantastic, while Canucks would’ve had lead. But from the first period on, the Canucks seems to get away from the game. They kind of get drag in the Chicago’s game which is much more physical game. A lot of pushing and shooting in front of the net. After the whistle you saw a Daniel Sedin’s loosing his temper, that’s something Fox around here have never seen. One of the Sedins are getting caught up to shut his mouth in a penalty box. So I think Canucks got a little away from their game. Kind of got drank. I see if they’re get back to their style to play. Have to remember as you said Canucks had a great season, you have to remember the things you did all year that got you to this point, the things you have to get back to right now. We’ll see if they able to do that as you mentioned important game time. You don’t what to be down three one and getting back to Chicago.

Very quickly, what will prove that they’re back to their game tonight? What would you been looking for too see?

I’ll be looking to see that specially early in the game, after the whistle, you know when a lot of time you see the players with the gloves on the faces, if you see the Canucks skating away from that, not get caught up and I think that would be a good sign and look there’s nothing better than that the scores, the first score in the game the time that sets the tone and change the way both teams play.

Questions denied about Canada’s Visa system. Why was a woman from China denied entry to attend her mother’s funeral in Surrey. Kathy Tomlinson has the story.

Jason Wu says his family can’t rest until his grandmother’s grave is attended to by her daughter.

“This is almost like a specter judgment upon her not being able to see her at life’s final departure.”

The Canadian Government won’t allow Su Lan Huang to come from China to say goodbye.

“How is that they are not able to feel a daughter’s pain or family members’ pain?”

Her mother was struck and killed at this crossing. Canada’s Visa Office overseas wouldn’t let Huang in for the funeral. It want significant approve that she has the ties in China and would go back.

“She’s not criminal, you know she’s not terrorist.”

Document submitted shows she has a husband, a grandson, a house and money in the bank.”

“She’ll be a fugitive in Canada. She’s of a nature, she can’t work, she doesn’t speak the language.”

Still two more applications were also denied. Immigration administer Jason Kenny wouldn’t talk to us about this, but his spokes person told us the concern is still that Huang will never go home. He also talk us her application said mothering about wanting to visitor mother’s grave. These copies though clearly state that over and over as the reason for her trip.

“They probably didn’t read the documentation.”

This lawyer isn’t surprised. Canada’s visa application system in China has been contracted out to a company from Monbai. He believes the visa officer now just rubber stamp its recommendations.

“How much input he’s going to have and how much files he actually looked at. It’s everybody, you know is anybody’s cares.”

“I’m so ethnical of everything now.”

The office of Wu’s MP Tory Alice Wong is now looking into why the officer in this case apparently didn’t see the please of a graving family.

If you don’t know how to defend yourself, you’ll get fired.

Summer: I honestly can’t answer that question.
Trump: I think you gotta have to. Otherwise, you’re the project manager, you’ll get fired.
Summer: If you won’t fire me, then the only person you need to fire is Curtis.
Trump: What do you mean by if I won’t fire you?
Trump: Tell me who I should fire, you or Curtis?
。。。。。。
Trump: Curtis, why should I fire summer over you?
Curtis: Summer, cuz she is the project manager.
。。。。。。
Trump: Summer, who I should fire and why?
Summer: I’m saying Curtis, cause I want be in this show, compete for my charity.
Trump’s assistant: That’s not telling the reason though, you haven’t be in this boardroom, Curtis have been here quite a few times.
Summer: That’s a good point. Can I brought it up now?
Trump: I think it’s a little late for that. You haven’t given a very strong argument for you to stay.
Trump: Summer, you are fired!
Trump’s assistant: She wasn’t able to defend herself.

Thinking of join a gym or getting a theater subscription, starting tomorrow, it may cost you 8% more in Ontario and 7% more in British Columbia. It’s the harmonize sales tax, by July 1st when the tax is completely faced in. It’ll apply to everything, from hair cuts to gasoline. And as Chris Brown explains in BC at least there’re signs of hold.

In BC, a lot of people will like to berry the new harmonize sales tax. The province’ funeral director’s among them. It’s a tax on death they say. I don’t want have to sit in front of the family that’s just lost their father and tell them they have to pay additional 7% over above what they already have to pay. The funeral directors have donated $10,000 to a growing grasses campaign to try to get the HST repealed.

So far more than 145,000 people have signed partitions against the tax.

“This is just getting random and throw.”

“And I think it’s really gonna hurt like small businesses and lower income families.”

The legislation itself passed last night after the BC liberal use their majority to shut down debate, but no one expect the fight will end there.

“We have a quiet revolution happening in this province.”

With his trade mark event, Bill Vanderzalm has come out of politic retirement to roily the anti tax forces against premier Golden Hamper’s government.

“They lied in election. During the election only a week before, they announced, they said no HST, we don’t want HST. And then suddenly after the election, we have HST. So they handle it so badly.”

People in Ontario will start paying HST on July 1ST too, and there was small protest there today. But nothing like the serious counter attack there’s been in BC. Big business is all for the HST, but its voice been hard to hear.

“It’s been showing elsewhere in the world that leads to one investment harm tax activity and that’s what we need in BC.”

Well, tax opponents here have been spurred on by legislation it’s said that if they get 10% of the voters and every writing in the province to sign that potion, then there’s a chance they can get the HST bill repealed. It is a long shot, but it has keep people fighting.

“Chris, we just hear from business they’re saying, it’s good for business. What’re we talking about? Why is good for business?”

Well, they say it’s good for investment essentially, if a company say buys a car or computer for their business, right now, they can claim back the GST, on that portion of the sales tax, but can’t claim back the provincial portion of the sales tax. So now the HST, they’ll be able to get the whole portion back, the idea is those saving will trickle down on through the system and ultimately go to the consumer. And effect several study of looked atlantics Canada which has the HST, they concluded that effect that’s what’s been happening.

“Troubles on consumers are that some services they’re now paying a tax where they didn’t before, right?”

Yes, that’s exactly it. You’ll see it on haircuts, restaurant for example. Those prices are going to go up right way. There is going to be definitely some sticker shock. And the concern is what the people will hold back that may off set some of the gains, that the business communities hoping to see.
