Two Canadian fighter jets grumble to escort passenger plane to a landing today at the Vancouver International Airport. The action was taken as a precaution because of the potential security threat on board. The Cathy Pacific flight was on its way to Vancouver from Hong Kong. With more on the incident we reached CBC’s Belle Puri by telephone at the airport.


Well, Diana, just before 11 o’clock, BC RCMP received a call saying that there was a bomb on aboard flight 839 Cathy Pacific airbus 830 was coming in from Hong Kong. So the two CR80 fighter jets were to employ to escorted airplane into Vancouver Airport and landed without incidence. Passengers just debark immediately but were held Custom for over two hours. When they were allowed to leave, they had to leave without their baggage. And RCMP says they determined there was no threat on Board, but their investigation continues.
