Well, the story that dated us 30 years ago today, the three of us were bummed a quarter from mom and dad and try to play Pac-Man, that’s right. It was the first Video game that appeal to girls as well as boys, which help make so popular. As Theresa Lalonde reports tonight. Today’s online birthday celebration’s prove it is as addictive as ever.
One quarter, hours of fun. Chasing ghosts, munching dots, the game was so big, it had a song and its own cereal. It was the first arcade game to wildly appeal to teen boys and girls.
“Pac-Man came out when I was about 13. And we were just all hit down to arcade and have these massive games of Pac-Man. There was actually a lineup.”
Today, Brenda Bailey make video games, she knows what works.
“Easy to play, easy to pick up, really difficult to master. And to have that sense of replay ablility. These are very, very important design concept so the video games today, Pac-Man nailed it 30 years ago.”
“It was a fun silly little game, nobody got blown up.”
John Robertson repairs and resales arcade games. He’s been called to work on Pac-Man on 1980 right after it came out. The problem, it was too popular.
“The cashbox on it was a little small, for the amount of coins that went into them.”
So now when I was a kid, my big brother was a big gamer and he raped the score on this thing and that was so high that went back to zero. I spent years trying to do the same thing. Twitter’s field was full of arsdutral like that today. Pac-Man was the top conversation on twitter. Many people were struggle by today’s Google graphic, a playable version of Pac-Man. The twitters talked about how distracting it was, no work getting done in the office. Sentimentality still sells this old game.
“Pac-Man is still very popular for home.”
Of course you can get the computer version, but really this is way more physical, more fun, even when you loose.
