Full of Olympic fans gathered on Parliament Hill got to meet the Prime minister, but they were all there for the big announcement which Canadian athlete go carry the Maple Leaf in Rio next month.
“Rosie Maclean! Olympic gold medalist from London in 2012, competing trampoline again this year and representing Canada. “
Maclean was Canada’s only gold medalist in those games, now she is clearly ruled this new honor, leading Canada’s three hundred fourteen other athletes at the opening ceremony.
“Rosie! Rosie!”
“Standing here, going into my third games. I’m filled with so much prize and so much gratitude that towards even can begin to describe it.”
“For the 27 years’ old trampoline gymnast had the tough year getting to this point last summer at practice, she suffered concussion after hitting her head on the side of the trampoline. She recovered from that to compete and win gold at the Panan Games in front of her own home town crowd in Toronto. But then another hit the head, have to battling the headache, dizziness and lights sensitivity. Credits to coach’s and therapist are helping to her come back to competition.
“With the support of everyone around me, I was absolutely able to keep on pushing and there are definitely times when I didn’t know if this gonna to be possibilities.”
Canada’s Olympic chief Curt Hannett says, Maclean’s difficulties through make her those Olympics choice an excellent for flag bear.
“Her personal experience, her overcoming the diversity, injuries and concussions that had plain her, almost prevent her from compete at the 2015 Panan Games, where she shine so well. You know she just epitomize that you know what I think actually Canadians look for in their athletes.”
With flag waving tips from the Prime Minister Maclean got the practice the role she’ll play in two weeks.
