New Words: Outage

Flood watches and warnings are affecting parts of British Columbia, more than a hundred millimeter rain fell yesterday and there is more on its way today. CBC Tim weaks’ in Vancouver.

We better say some pretty heavy rain and also wind just hauling through here in effect we were told they are picking up 90 kilometer per hour in the Fraser Valley. So there have been lots of power outage and there are still about 17 thousands home without power in the lower mainland and the sunshine cause another thousands without power on Vancouver island and that’s the addition to all the homes they have restored the thousands of those. Meanwhile some heavy rain continue to fall and saying that some areas especially the higher elevation we sit could see 200 perhaps even 300 millimeters of rain. So would be higher temperature with all that rains. Snow packing is melting that’s gonna to push some areas just pass the break they say. A reserving starting to see some isolated flooding that affect the street in Stanley Park has been flooded, some streets and in surrey and maple ridge. Meanwhile most of the lower mainland as well as the north shore all under the flood watch. There has been a flood warning issued for a four rivers on Vancouver island which means they’ve already hit the capacity, some cases probably already starting to flood and if this heavy rain continues that only going to get worse. So they are already telling people that stay away from the rive banks. They are saying a lots erosion areas there probably just not get save to get pass or get close to those fast moving river.
